Established in 1985, the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) is known for its support and development of podium success at the elite level such as Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth games. AIS is deeply committed to the success of the whole athlete, not just podium success, by investing in the development of elite systems across sports and partners inspiring the next generation.

Project brief

Oppida was commissioned to build nine Athlete Wellbeing learning modules that provide the athlete with support, advice, and practical expertise to assist their health and development on and off the elite athlete journey. 

Project challenge 

One of the core challenges of this project was designing the content to meet the desired time frames of end users. At the same time, AIS embarked on an aspirational enterprise-wide implementation of a new learning management system (LMS).

Oppida’s customised solution 

Oppida utilised design thinking methodology to achieve the highest quality outcomes for AIS. Oppida’s experienced learning designers thoroughly consulted with critical stakeholders to gain complete clarity on business objectives and target audience needs. From there, Oppida supported the stakeholder needs through the agile delivery of storyboard design. A co-design process focused on teaching AIS rather than telling to enable knowledge transfer to the AIS team. This allowed Oppida to demonstrate and develop best practice learner experience design with and for AIS.  

To provide AIS with an exceptional learning experience, Oppida supported the development and production of rich media assets to enhance the learner experience, including animation and teaching videos.
